CEDAR5 (Full Day Grade 5 Curriculum)
CEDAR5 is an all-inclusive experience using materials to prepare students for middle school and high school CEDAR classes. Students will enjoy and be challenged by a day in the classroom with courses to include English (Literature, Grammar, Writing, and Spelling), Math, Science, and History. The students will be given work to complete during the following week at home which will enhance and reinforce the lessons taught in class.
Classroom experience: In the classroom each week lessons will be creatively taught to cover grammar, writing, literature, math and history and science. We will play games, complete hands-on learning projects, share stories, and participate in science labs and history activities.
Home experience: Each week there will be an assignment sheet emailed for the students. Parents are responsible for grading the material as no grades are assigned in our Elementary programs.
Supplies that the students will need:
- 4 different colored two-pocket folders labeled as followed: (Green- Math, Blue- History, Red- Literature, and Yellow- Writing)
- Poetry Composition Notebook
-Math Notes Composition Notebook.
- One clear plastic shoebox with a snapping lid. Please put your student’s name on the box. This will hold your student’s supplies, and it will be left in the classroom.
- Scissors, crayons, colored pencils, a ruler, markers, liquid glue, stick glue, a box of sharpened #2 pencils, EXPO dry erase markers, small dry erase board (doesn't need to fit in the box), and 1 highlighter.
- Spiral notebook for class I would suggest purchasing a large three-ring binder so that you can add your student’s weekly assignments. This binder will serve as your student’s portfolio, which can be used for the end-of-year evaluation.
